She Gave for Decades. Now It’s Our Turn to Give Back.
A devoted Vaishnavi who has served for over 30 years now needs our help. Her home was damaged in a recent attack — together, we can support her restoration.
Dear Vaishnavas,
We’ve received a request from Mataji Lila Mai, a long-standing devotee from Kyiv. During the recent attack on the city on the night of May 24, a powerful explosion occurred right next to her building. Several apartments in the neighboring house were completely destroyed by fire.
Mataji Lila Mai’s apartment was not hit as severely, but it still suffered serious damage — the windows were blown out, the frames were broken, and a piece of shrapnel landed in her kitchen. Thankfully, she was not physically harmed, though the experience was deeply traumatic.
Our goal is to support this devoted Vaishnavi by helping her restore her home. We plan to install new double-glazed windows in the rooms and fully replace the rotting wooden frames on the balcony, which are beyond repair.
Mataji Lila Mai shares her account of the incident in this video:

She has been serving the mission for over 30 years, and now it is our turn to support her.
Here is what Mataji Mandakini, head of the Construction Department at the ISKCON New Navadvipa Temple in Kyiv, says about her:
*”I have known Mataji Lila Mai since 1991, and even before that, she had been serving Krishna for about ten years: distributing books, organizing nama-hattas, and doing everything she could to help others discover Krishna.
Those were difficult times — books couldn’t be freely distributed, and nama-hattas had to be organized discreetly.
Thirty years have passed since then. I’m now engaged in temple construction, and she continues her preaching — conducting nama-hattas and inspiring others. I regularly attended her programs, and through them, my own desire to serve Krishna grew and strengthened.
Throughout the years, I’ve always seen her absorbed in serving the Vaishnavas. She continues to lead nama-hattas, participates in harinam on the streets, and many devotees now actively engaged in temple service first came to Krishna through her.
And she never asked for anything for herself. She always gave — whenever she came to the temple, she brought small gifts for other devotees: saris, incense, tilak — whatever she could.
Her personal needs were always secondary. To me, she is a true example of surrender, a genuinely elevated soul who sincerely loves Krishna and deeply respects the Vaishnavas.
Thank you. Hare Krishna!”*
We are aiming to raise $970 to cover the repair costs.
Please consider making a donation — even a small contribution will bring warmth, safety, and encouragement to a servant who has spent her life giving to others.
Thank you for your support!
