Electric Generator for Kharkiv Yatra
Electric generator for Kharkiv Yatra: Food for Life must go on.
There is one of the largest yatras in the city of Kharkiv, Ukraine. It is well-known for its outstanding commitment to preaching in the city streets. Before the war, harinamas were held every day. On weekends, there could be three harinamas at the same time in different parts of the city, and then these groups joined into one big maha-harinama. There were more than 2000 sweet balls distributed per week.
During the war, the city of Kharkiv is second most destroyed city in Ukraine (after Mariupol). Fortunately, the Temple building is not damaged! It is home to 18 devotees. All daily programs and Sunday feast programs are held. New people are coming!
Since the the war broke out, the main preaching activity is Food for Life.
Via Food for Life program, 1,600 portions a day are distributed. There are 15 distribution places, including those in bomb shelters. Srila Prabhupada’s books are distributed. Harinamas are held.
The most dire hindrance in preaching and just in terms of physically maintaining the body for devotees is long-term blackouts.
However, there are also a number of difficulties in the temple, one of which is that it is impossible to fully perform service because of regular power outages.
Here’s the request for help from the Kharkiv yatra.
We humbly ask you to help us to buy power generating equipment, namely, a generator, gasoline, an uninterruptible power supply, batteries, a charger and rechargeable lights.
We try our best to be helpful to people. If we use this equipment, our efforts will be much more effective!
