We received a request from Bahmut Yatra. Bahmut is small city located in the eastern part of Ukraine. Now it's a front line. Our usual practice is to encourage devotees to leave dangerous places and many of them already left the city but around 10 devotees still remain. Our goal is to supply them with warm clothes, medicine, batteries, mobile stoves.

We received a request from Bahmut Yatra. Bahmut is small city located in the eastern part of Ukraine. Now it’s a front line. We live in Bakhmut. The city is on the front line. It is suffering from constant bombing and shelling. It is very scary for us to leave the house as we never know where the next projectile will hit. The area around the house and the yard has already been damaged. When those projectiles hit, neighbors died because of explosions.

At home very often we have no electricity, no water, no Internet. We have to cook food outside on the street.
Jobs are nowhere to be found.

The best solution in this situation would be to evacuate, but, due to some reasons we cannot do this. We are in a truly horrendous situation and we will appreciate any help.

I’m a retired person. I have lost his job due to the war. A misfortune happened. On August 26, a missile hit a five-story block of flats I live in. My house is half destroyed and it is impossible to live there when it is cold outside. Windows and doors are destroyed. I am suffering from health problems – back issues. I cannot buy medicines to take care of it since the pharmacies in the city are closed, I have no opportunity to go to another city to buy medicines.

Being sick is a serious ordeal these days. If it is a serious illness, it is double trouble. Willpower and wallet are put to test. Gauranga Das, a devotee from Odessa, found himself in such a difficult situation.

In March 2022, after an emergency operation for peritonitis, Gauranga Prabhu heard a terrible diagnosis – cancer.

There was a difficult operation, his intestine was taken out and a stomach was put in place, exhausting 5 cycles of chemotherapy followed. By the Lord’s mercy, Gauranga Dasa lived through chemo. But it almost took away the strength of the body required to fight further. There arose problems related to the kidneys, liver, skin. Unfortunately, these were not all the trials that befell the devotee. Because of intense stress, his wife fell ill and she had to be operated on.

At the end of September, Gauranga Dasa is to go through the 6th chemo, after which another difficult operation to restore the intestines will follow.

Thanks to constant serious spiritual practice, the support of devotees and family, Gauranga Dasa retained his inner strength and is determined to fight this disease.

But the physical body needs to be restored and be ready for a new struggle so that it is successful!

For that to be achieved, it is crucial to have good nutrition (up to specialized sipping), support for internal organs – the liver and the kidneys. The operation itself is a thing in itself. Such operations are not cheap. The family have almost no money left.

Damayuta Dasa, the leader of the Odesa Yatra says:

“Gauranga Dasa met devotees in the early 90s in Chisinau. His spiritual master is Partha Sarathi Dasa Goswami who initiated him in 1999.

In 2007, he married and lived in Chernomorsk, he was engaged in service in the Odesa community. He was a member of the community council, was the chair of the department of education. In 2011 he received a second initiation.

Together with his wife, they preached through clubs such as Goodness, Psychology 3000.

He traveled a lot, was engaged in service in the Vienna community, helped to arrange the first Ratha-Yatra.

All devotees note that he is warm-hearted and gentle. Of course, he has a great sense of humor and at the same time deep knowledge of philosophy. He is an excellent counsellor and always provides appropriate support and care.

When he was teaching, all his students spoke of him with great love and gratitude. Our yatra is still hoping that he could start teaching again.”

Since the war broke out, Ukrainian Vaishnavas living in the non-occupied territories have been doing all their best to support the devotees forced to leave their houses behind and flee occupied territories suffering from shelling. For example, in ISKCON Temple in Ivano-Frankivsk (Western Ukraine), the Vaishnavas got together and urgently sped up the construction works in order to complete several rooms in the temple that the devotees are building now. Thanks to that, a dozen devotees were given shelter in the first days of the war. However, there was not enough money to install a heating system. Two families with children will be living in the temple during the winter and it is necessary to install a heating system. It will cost USD 1,470.

Chortkiv yatra is one of the smallest in Ukraine. It is small, yet remarkable. Dhruva-kumara Prabhu, a young Vaisnava, took on the leader’s responsibility. He needs to ensure that there is heating in the temple during winter.

Yatra hosts Abhai-nitai Prabhu’s family of three and elderly Irina Mataji from the city of Mykolaiv. These devotees are immensely grateful to the Vaisnavas for the opportunity to have a place to live in and prasadam. With the lay of the land in Ukraine of today, this already means a lot.

It’s now time to buy firewood for the winter. It will cost USD 1,100 for the whole heating season. Please let’s take care of these wonderful devotees.

Stoka Krishna prabhu, the community leader, tells about the situation in which the devotees found themselves and thanks for the help:

…From the very moment hostilities broke out in the Kherson region, the devotees found themselves in various difficult life situations. Someone has lost a job and a source of income to support their family. Half of the community was forced to move out and leave their homes. Some devotees needed financial support in order to receive qualified medical care. And all these five months, Share your care fund has been there for us, providing very timely and relevant support. The fund has already helped dozens of devotees from Kherson and their families.
Despite all the obstacles, the Vaishnavas remaining in Kherson are still gathering to chant the holy names. Every Sunday, devotees hold a program, study the holy scriptures together. Twice a week the devotees hold small harinama in the city. Every morning the devotees attend the Srimad Bhagavatam class in Zoom. Devotees distribute prasadam as part of the Food for Life program every week. All this has become possible also thanks to the huge support that the Kherson devotees receive through the Share your care fund.

Hare Krsna, dear devotees. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. My name is Omkarahari das, I am from Ukraine, the town of Melitopol. The town of Melitopol is located in the east of Ukraine, it is a small town which is called the Gates to the Crimea. Right now Melitopol is occupied by the Russian Federation.

Almost all enterprises are closed down. Everyone is jobless, prices for all the groceries are soaring, both for the most necessary ones and absolutely everything. Prices have increased by 3-4 times. However, we meet regularly, we hold Sunday feast programs, namahats. Our main project is Food for Life. This is the project that united the whole yatra. Local devotees gathered together around this project. This project is very much necessary not only for devotees who come, but also for those people who come to us. These are mostly elderly people who have no pension left, they have no social support. The situation is quite difficult for the devotees at present. And all the devotees lost their jobs, they have no social security payments…
